In July, domestic TiO2 companies faced internal and external pressures from demand, as well as the continued high cost of raw materials, resulting in significant operational stress and a further decline in operating rates. The domestic TiO2 market continued its weak trend during the slack season, with some rigid demands orders being concluded, but overall demand remained sluggish due to the slow release of domestic demands and the ongoing impact of overseas anti-dumping.
The domestic Titanium slag market continued to operate in a weak market trend. On one hand, although the cost of raw materials has been reduced, the price of new orders continued to decline, making it difficult for companies to make a profit. On the other hand, there was no improvement in downstream demand, the market inquiry was cold, leading to a low willingness of manufacturers to start production.
In the Panxi region, the tug-of-war between buyers and sellers dragged on. Slack downstream demand kept producers bidding low, while Panzhihua Steel's quota system tightened supplies of low-phosphorus feedstock and deterred miners from releasing material. Enquiries have picked up recently, but prices were unlikely to move much until the month-end, when the stand-off should clear.
