Market analysis: In May, the prices of insecticides were generally stable, with minor fluctuations within a certain range. Among the products with price fluctuations, the prices of chlorpyrifos TC and lambda-cyhalothrin TC showed a relatively significant decrease, while the prices of other products remained stable.

Enterprise dynamics: The environmental impact report for Hebei Yangge's 700 t/a tralopyril project was publicised; EIA public notice for Shijiazhuang Ruihui's 3,255 t/a fine chemicals project; EIA public notice for Henan Zehang's 1,200 t/a tralopyril project; EIA public notice for Jiangxi Weida's 1,000 t/a cyantraniliprole technical renovation project.

Policy: From 7 May, 2025, China has implemented anti-dumping measures for five years on imported cypermethrin originating from India, with tax rates ranging from 48.4% to 166.2%. This move is in response to the dumping practices of Indian companies, to protect the interests of domestic industries in China, and to maintain fair market competition; On 7 May, MARA has organized the completion of the draft for comments on the "Common Chinese Names for Pesticides" national standard and is now publicly soliciting comments.

Trade analysis: from Jan. to April 2025, the physical volume of insecticide preparations exported from China reached 162,647.45 t, a YoY increase of 33.74%; the export value rose by 20.47% YoY, while the average export price fell by 9.92% YoY.

Pests: It is anticipated that by 2025, the overall occurrence of migratory locusts in the agricultural areas of the country will be moderate, with some areas experiencing heavier infestations, covering an area of approximately 1.6493 million hectares; Hubei Province Forestry Bureau releases the first generation occurrence trend forecast for the United States white moth in 2025. As of the end of April, the number of overwintering adult insects has decreased by 27.7% compared to the same period last year. It is expected that the peak period for emergence and egg-laying will enter in early May, and the larvae will enter the peak period of damage from late May to early June. The overall damage is expected to be relatively light.
