Two policies will affect domestic insecticide industry in 2013. One is Harmful Solvents in EC Formulations to be released in the near future to gradually restrict the use of five harmful solvents. The other is the investigation into the use of abamectin ointment to produce abamectin EC since April 2012. These two policies have greatly affected insecticide producers and their upstream enterprises. Most insecticides such as triazophos demand new formulations for replacing EC formulations.
Therefore, domestic enterprises which were engaged in producing adjuvants and surfactants for EC formulation should adjust their production, targeting adjuvants and surfactants for the production of EW or ME formulations. With the restriction of abamectin ointment in 2012, it is worth reviewing that how China's abamectin export performed last year.
In 2013, China will continue to enhance environmental protection supervision and regulation on domestic chemical production. Will another hot insecticide namely imidacloprid be involved in the restriction policy in the future just like abamectin? In 2013, we will continue to attentively focus on policies and market dynamics.
