According to National Bureau of Statistics of China (NBS), China's output of pesticide technical witnessed an increase of 19.29% year on year in the first ten months of 2012 to about 2,868,060 tonnes. Jiangsu ranked the first place with an output of 870,242 tonnes in the meantime, followed by Shandong, Zhejiang, Hubei, Anhui, etc. However, China's output of fungicides, the third largest pesticide category, witnessed a slip of 9.40% year on year to around 116,900 tonnes in the meantime.
In export business, China exported 748,900 tonnes of pesticides from Jan. to Oct. 2012, up 12.60% year on year. Also, the export value of pesticides recorded a rise of 17.30% to USD2.36 billion in the meantime. Whereas, China's total export volume of fungicides declined by about 7.85% year on year from Jan. to Oct. 2012 to 59,394 tonnes. Specifically, the export volume of retail packing fungicides was 15,379 tonnes in the meantime, much less than that of non-retail packing ones, 44,015 tonnes. In addition, the total export value of fungicides also witnessed a fall of 10.91% year on year in the first ten months of 2012 to about USD278.13 million.
Although the export situation of fungicides was relatively stagnant in China this year and perhaps it might not be obviously improved in the short term, rigid demand for fungicides to prevent and control crop diseases in domestic market will be still exuberant in 2013. According to National Agro-Tech Extension and Service Center (NATESC), China will record a rise of 6.64% year on year in fungicide demand in 2013 to about 84,710 tonnes. In addition, fungicide varieties, demand volume for which will exceed 10,000 tonnes in China next year, mainly include copper sulfate and carbendazim.
