The biomaterials industry has achieved some progress in the first eleven months of 2013. For example, The world's leading polyamide (PA) enterprises actively developed their biological PA products in 2013.
Some companies in China also showed an active development momentum in Nov. 2013. For example, Kingfa's biodegradable plastic program received a fund of USD162,700 on Nov. 15, 2013. Jiangsu Jinhe signed a framework agreement worth USD325.4 million about its straw-based plastic in Nov. 2013. A 100% biodegradable plastic plant with a production capacity of 1,800t/a was put into operation in Hainan Province on Nov. 28, 2013.
As for the raw materials, China's SA industry has achieved some progress, with enterprises entering this industry or having produced biological SA products that successfully meet the producer's requirements in 2013. Besides, China's castor oil price has decreased continuously since May 2013, and is expected to continue the downtrend in Dec. 2013 and Jan. 2014.
In Oct. 2013, the import volume of PLA decreased while the export volume increased compared to Sept. 2013. Besides, the import volume of fresh cassava increased compared to Sept. 2013, and the import volume of dry cassava increased month on month as well. China's import volume of castor oil and its derivatives increased while the import price recorded monthly declines from Sept. 2013.
