The increase in China's Crop Protection Price Index (CAPI) in 2025 was driven by multiple factors, such as improved supply-demand dynamics, rising costs, and greater industry rationalization. On the supply side, inventories bottomed out after a three-year downturn, leading to tight supply for certain products. Cost pressures mounted as upstream chemical raw material prices rose. Demand was supported by recovering export markets and expectations surrounding the commercialization of domestic genetically modified crops. At the industry level, a shift away from excessive competition encouraged companies to prioritize profitability, collectively supporting price recovery.
