In Sep. 2012, China has taken several new environmental protection measures, though it won't directly benefit China's biomaterial industry. It's expected that China's biomaterial industry will get support from the government, which may further help biodegradable materials grow faster.
Additionally, more and more chemical enterprises are targeting at biological succinic acid market due to great demand from new application fields and its low cost. For example, BASF and Purac plan to launch a biological succinic acid program with capacity of 25,000t/a in 2013.
Attention has also been paid to the development of some biomaterials in China. Lyocell fiber, an environmentally-friendly regenerated cellulose fiber, starts to sprout in China and may be booming in the near future. Also, China's PLA industry faces two main barriers - unstable quality and market imbalance which have a great effect on the development of this industry. However, China's PLA industry will still have a promising future.
