In terms of market analysis, In late Dec., 2025, Hubei Province officially released the list of leading agricultural varieties for the 2025–2026; On 7 Jan., Jiangxi Province publicised the provincial leading agricultural varieties and recommended techniques for 2026.
In terms of company and supply: On 9 January, Longping High-tech announced that 64 new major crop varieties it independently or cooperatively developed have passed national approval; at the same time, China Seed completed a partial tender offer for Winall, becoming its controlling shareholder with a 40.51% stake. This move marks a key step in consolidating China's seed industry and accelerates the business integration between the two entities.
In terms of trade analysis, China's import volume of seeds of soybean, corn and vegetables increased by 92.44% MoM to 847.62 tonnes, while the export volume up by 103.47% MoM to 1,190.42 tonnes; In Jan.– Dec., 2025, China imported approximately 136.43 million tonnes of grain, down 11.54% YoY. In Dec. 2025 alone, 10.44 million tonnes of grain were imported, up 4.92% MoM.
In terms of policy, On 5 Jan., 2026, Heilongjiang issued the Heilongjiang Province 2026 Layout Plan for High-Quality and Efficient Crop Variety Planting Zones.; On 29 Dec., 2025, Beijing Municipality issued the Working Opinions on Promoting the High-Quality Development of Seed Industry Enterprises.
In terms of variety, MARA released the second batch of Jiangsu's approved list of major crop cultivars for 2025, including 51 rice, 10 corn, 12 soybean, and 1 cotton varieties.; Yunnan Province released its 2025 approved catalogue of major crop cultivars, which includes 123 corn, 41 rice, 16 wheat and 9 soybean varietie.
