In April, prices of insecticide raw materials diverged; key intermediates remained high, supported by cost and demand. Prices of technical insecticides rose overall, with pyrethroid and neonicotinoid products leading the gains.

Company dynamics 

• Jiangsu Youjia proposed 1,700 t/a pesticide-mother-technical project.
• Handan Ruitian publicised the general information for its clothianidin technical (TC), pesticide intermediates, pesticide formulation compounds, and thiamethoxam TC tech-upgrade project.
• Hebi Saike released the 20,000 t/a 2-methyl pyridine production line, 2-vinyl pyridine automation upgrade, and ammonia-to-cyanide plant environmental optimisation upgrade project.
• In 2025, Hunan Haili's sales declined and revenue dropped YoY, while Yangnong Chemical achieved revenue growth by raising production and sales volumes amid generally weak technical pesticide prices.

Regarding policy, on 10 April, ICAMA released the Public Opinion Form for Toxicological Assessment Procedures for Major Pesticide Metabolites, supplying a standardised protocol for evaluating the toxicological safety of key metabolites during pesticide registration. Simultaneously, MARA launched a co-ordinated crackdown on the illegal production, the production and business operations of, and use of banned and restricted pesticides to normalise market conduct.

As for pest and disease, Guangxi expects the overall occurrence of major crop diseases, insects, weeds, rodents and pests in the first half of 2026 to be moderate to severe, covering 6.35 million hectares, while Guangdong forecasts a generally severe trend for provincial crop pests and diseases over the same period, affecting 10 million hectares.
