In April 2026, as ongoing international geopolitical turmoil continued to affect the domestic market, China's pesticide industry faced energy supply restrictions, driving up prices for most products. Ex-works prices for glycine rose notably, while the yellow phosphorus market increased initially before declining. Upstream raw materials saw broad-based price rises, and the glyphosate market fluctuated at elevated levels.

On the project front, On 13 April, 2026, the EI report for Henan Hongdongfang's 100,000 t/a green and environmentally friendly pesticide project. On 20 April 2026, Hebang Bio cut the total investment in its 500,000 t/a PMIDA project to USD1,015 million (RMB7,009 million). On 28 April, 2026, the EI report for Guizhou Jiangshan's 250,000 t/a glyphosate project was publicised.

Corporate updates indicate that in 2025, Hebang Bio's glyphosate business experienced a decline in both sales volume and prices, with its gross margin falling to 0.21%, while profit was instead driven by PMIDA. Xingfa Group's pesticide segment accounted for 18.18% of its total revenue, of which glyphosate made up over 90%. Over the course of 2025, glyphosate prices first fell, then rose, and later retreated, while destocking led to a 15.12% YoY reduction in inventory.

On the regulatory side, MARA issued a notice to carry out a concentrated crackdown on the illegal production, distribution and use of banned or restricted pesticides. Meanwhile, Seven government departments jointly issued the Action Plan for Renewal and Retrofitting of Aged Facilities (2026-2029)  to retrofit facility systems that have been in operation for more than 20 years.

In export trade, in January 2026, China exported 17,881.16 tonnes of glyphosate (calculated as 100% active ingredient). The largest exporter was Zhejiang Wynca, and the largest destination was Brazil.
