In April 2026, prices of key fungicide raw materials moved in different directions, with the average rising 5.53% MoM. As geopolitical risk premiums faded and supply recovered against weak demand, product trends diverged: some retreated from highs, while others continued to rise. The fungicide technical market maintained its earlier recovery, but divergence between products widened. Spring demand and sustained high costs lifted most products, but some that had risen sharply faced buyer resistance and trader selling pressure, leading to corrections at the high end.
Company dynamics
On 25 March, Pilarquim held an online field performance demonstration in Fengxian, Shanghai, showcasing its two core grey mould fungicides.
At end‑March, several pesticide companies released 2025 annual reports, showing sharper divergence. Lier Chemical's net profit surged 122.33%, Jiangsu Yangnong rose 6.98% against the trend, Anhui Jiuyi grew 4.40%, while Hunan Haili fell 8.2%. Lier Chemical achieved both volume and profit growth; Yangnong was sales‑driven; and Anhui Jiuyi saw higher prothioconazole sales.
On 20 April, Jiangsu Changqing's board approved the use of up to RMB150.00 million (USD21.73 million) in idle proceeds for cash management, renewable annually, with no objection from the sponsor.
Policy
On 31 March, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Shandong Province issued a notice on the launch of province-wide pesticide quality supervision, inspection and risk monitoring starting in April. The targets of supervision and inspection include offline retailers and online platforms. A total of 660 samples will be inspected, and 140 will be subject to risk monitoring. Key priorities include identifying hidden ingredients such as the addition of chemical pesticides to biological pesticides. Six major grain-growing regions will be fully covered. The inspection is to be completed by 30 June, and the risk monitoring is to be completed by 30 September.
Registration
On 10 April, the Institute for the Control of Agrochemicals, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (ICAMA), made public its third batch of pesticides proposed for registration in 2026, which includes a fungicide single formulation in the form of a soluble concentrate with Laminarin as the active ingredient, submitted by Laboratoires Goëmar, France.
Disease
On 27 March, the National Agro-Tech Extension and Service Center (NATESC) released the Occurrence Trend and Technical Control Plan for Soybean Diseases Across China in 2026. According to the forecast, the overall occurrence of soybean diseases across China in 2026 is expected to be at a moderate level, but more severe than in the previous year. Among them, soybean root rot carries a risk of relatively severe occurrence in the northeastern spring soybean region, and Bemisia tabaci (sweet potato whitefly) carries a risk of relatively severe occurrence in the Huang-Huai-Hai summer soybean region, with the latter being capable of transmitting viral diseases.
On 30 March, NATESC released the Technical Control Plan for Major Diseases and Pests in Corn in 2026. According to the forecast, the overall occurrence of diseases and pests on corn across China in 2026 is expected to be relatively severe. There is a high risk of a severe occurrence of ear rot in the Huang-Huai-Hai, southwestern and northeastern regions.
