Fungicides China Monthly Report

In May 2026, prices of major fungicide raw materials showed mixed movements, with the average price falling MoM. Continued supply recovery, weakening cost support, and persistently soft downstream demand led to declines in most varieties.

The fungicide technical market as a whole turned weak, but divergence between products widened significantly. Concentrated selling by traders pressured mainstream product prices downward, while a few individual products rose against the trend due to low factory operating rates, tight supply, or cost support. Overall, the market showed mixed movements with a weak and stable adjustment pattern.

Company dynamics

On 29 April, Shandong Sino-Agri Union Biotechnology Co., Ltd. held an earnings call, disclosing that its independently developed fungicide fluopimomide has been promoted, while trifluenfuronate and fluquinometoate are under registration application. Affected by low industry prices, cash flow declined, but Q1 2026 turnaround measures have shown initial results.

On 7 May, CAC Nantong Chemical Co., Ltd. announced that the implementing entity for its Egyptian agrochemical project has completed registration and signed land acquisition. The project has a total investment of USD271 million, with capacity expansion, but still requires domestic and overseas approvals and faces multiple risks.

On 8 May, Hailir Pesticides and Chemical Group Co., Ltd. held an earnings call, showing that its Hengning base recorded a net loss of USD13.67 million (RMB93.74 million) in 2025, with the loss narrowing significantly. The company is strengthening its layout of fungicide technicals such as fluxapyroxad, adhering to its dual-driven strategy of technical-formulation integration and domestic-international markets, and striving to turn Qingdao Hengning profitable in 2026.

Policy

On 7 May, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Shandong Province issued a notice on a double-random inspection of pesticide registration testing units from 1 June to 30 September, selecting nine units to verify qualifications, equipment, and six other items, with results to be disclosed before 30 October.

Registration

On 30 April, the Institute for the Control of Agrochemicals, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, publicized the fourth batch of pesticides proposed for registration in 2026, including 145 fungicide products. Most products are suspension concentrates (SC), with main active ingredients including pyraclostrobin, prothioconazole, fludioxonil, tebuconazole, azoxystrobin and difenoconazole.

Disease

As of 22 April, 2026, the main disease occurrence area for spring crops in Chongqing Municipality reached 251,400 hectares, down 12.32% YoY, with 216,600 hectares under control, accounting for 86.17% of the occurrence area.

On 28 April, the National Agricultural Technology Extension and Service Center issued a notice on strengthening prevention and control of major wheat diseases in the middle and late stages. According to expert analysis organized by the Center, wheat head blight has a high risk of severe outbreaks in the middle and lower Yangtze River, Jianghuai, Huanghuai, and southern North China regions; stem rot is locally severe in northern Huanghuai and central-southern North China; sheath blight is severe in some wheat areas of Jianghuai and Huanghuai; stripe rust is severe in the Jianghan Plain and western Guanzhong.

Trade

According to export data from China Customs, in April 2026, China's export physical volume of fungicide formulations reached 27,852.30 tonnes, up 13.60% YoY; export value reached USD124.48 million, up 18.67% YoY; average export price rose 4.47% YoY.
