China’s insecticide production has witnessed a decline this year as well, although China’s pesticide production has witnessed a persistent increase in recent years. In 2012, China’s insecticide output decreased by 11.96% compared to 2011. In the first eight months this year, China’s insecticide output continues to decrease, at a rate of 6.3%. There are several reasons for this decrease. Firstly, some patented insecticides developed by pesticide giants are selling well in domestic market. Besides, the fast development of insecticide industry in India poses increasing threat to China's insecticide industry.
Owing to factors such as over capacity, weak R&D capability, competition from oversea companies, the investment of new insecticide production lines in 2012 and this year is not good as the previous years. However, some companies still planned to expand their insecticide capacity. ABA Chemicals, one of the leading pesticide intermediate companies in China, chose to expand industrial chains into end-product area. Fuhua Tongda, one of the leading glyphosate producers in China, has recently invested in insecticide and fungicide business. Nanjing Redsun Co., Ltd., Benxin Pesticide Chemistry Co., Ltd., and Jiangsu Fengshan Agrochemical Co., Ltd., are expanding the capacity of chlorpyrifos or its raw material.
