Jan. 2014 and late Dec. 2013 still witness some progress in China's biomaterials industry. For example, China is now quickening the developmental pace of the bio-based chemical fiber industry. The Implementation Plan of Bio-based Materials Projects passed the experts' revision and went through governmental examination and approval procedures in Dec. 2013. Besides, Soybean Flour Based Wood Adhesives becomes an issue to be discussed in the 2014 China International Bio-based Technology and Partnering Conference held on 7-8 May, 2014. Moreover, the project namely biological preparation and industrial application of functional polymer amino acid was rewarded the Jiangsu First-class Sci-tech Prize on 23 Jan., 2014.
As for the raw materials, Landian Biological developed non-crop biomass raw materials to produce succinic acid by biological fermentation and is constructing a 10,000 t/a production line, which is planned to be put into production at the end of 2014. However, in 2014, BDO capacity is predicted to increase by 634,000 t/a, which will much exceed the market demand and will probably lead to the continuous price downturn of BDO in 2014.
