2-Chloro-5-chloromethylpyridine (CCMP), the key intermediate for the production of imidacloprid and acetamiprid, is attracting more and more attention from imidacloprid and acetamiprid producers. Imidacloprid, as one of the major insecticides in China, also plays an important role in the global agrochemical market. The price of CCMP greatly influences the production cost of imidacloprid, thereby leading to changes in the sales plan of CCMP and imidacloprid producers. Would they prefer to producing more imidacloprid by using CCMP or selling part of CCMP directly? CCM has long-term research experience in chemicals-relative industries, and has developed types of analysis and forecast models to deal with data sequences in various situation. In this report, a seasonal (namely CCM's seasonal forecast model) and a non-seasonal model (namely CCM's Grey-Markov forecast model) are applied to forecast the price of CCMP in the six months of the second half of 2014. The forecast result and conclusion can provide a guideline for clients who pay attention to the price fluctuation of CCMP as well as imidacloprid.
