China is a big producer of potassium chloride. Up to May 2012, the capacity of potassium chloride is 4,765,000 t/a and the output in 2011 is 3,200,000 tonnes. In order to meet the domestic demand, China will increase potassium chloride production in the following 3 years.
With great demand on potassium chloride, potassium chloride price has a continuous increase and the price is USD499.28 in May 2012. The price may has an increase in recent years.
Though China has great output, it still cannot meet the domestic demand. Therefore, China imports large amount of potassium chloride from aboard, and the import volume accounts for about 50% of domestic consumption volume. In 2011, China imports 6,401,900 tonnes of potassium chloride.
Potassium chloride accounts for 90% consumption volume of potash fertilizer, in 2011, the potassium chloride volume is about 10,400,000 tonnes and it will have an increase in recent years.
