Glucosamine, a nutrient ingredient extracted from shell of sea animals like shrimp, lobster, etc., has been recognized by human beings in the recent ten years. The mass commercial production of glucosamine started in mid 1990s in China as there are sufficient supplies of shells in China.
From the beginning of the application of glucosamine, people often refer glucosamine to as glucosamine HCL (GAH) as GAH was first found to be benefit to human beings and animals.
Now there are many other kinds of glucosamine products, like
- glucosamine hydrochloride, containing chloride
- glucosamine sodium sulfate (GAS (Na+)), containing over 20% sodium chloride
- glucosamine potassium sulfate (GAS (K+)), containing over 20% potassium chloride,
- glucosamine sulfate (GAS), not containing chloride, sodium and potassium.
- etc.
In recent years, with the breakthrough of the production technology, the production of these glucosamine (other than GAH) has been increasing.
But in this report, we focuses on the GAH, which is more popular abroad and at home. In the later part we will introduce in brief the situation of GAS and its salts.
