Livestock feed programme gives Canadian producers more time
With the anticipation of another spring flood, Manitoba farmers are receiving more time to shift livestock or feed under a programme to cope with last year's wet weather.
Livestock producers are allowed until March 31 to ship hay or animals under the Canada-Manitoba Feed and Transportation Assistance Programme.
The original deadline for that part of the programme was March 15.
The application deadline has also been extended to March 31.
Manitoba Agriculture Minister, Stan Struthers, said producers requested more time to make arrangements.
Deadlines remain the same for forage feed deficit help, targeted at those whose production was lowered by surplus moisture.
