Algeria delays animal feed import duties

For 11 months from September 1, Algeria has decided to suspend import duties on animal feed, such as corn and soy, to protect its domestic market from high world market prices.

"The national community, through the government, is committed to the protection of poultry by the exemption from customs duties and value added tax for corn, soy and other animal feed ... from September 1, 2012 until August 1, 2013," the statement quoted Agriculture Minister Rachid Benaissa as saying.
