Foreign feed millers in Vietnam increase market share in 2012

Foreign feed millers in Vietnam have increased their market share to 60% in 2012, up from 40%.

According to Chairman of the Vietnam National Husbandry Association Prof Nguyen Dang Vang there are currently 57 foreign feed millers in Vietnam, 41 of which are wholly owned and the remaining 16 are joint-ventures with local partners. The rest of the feed market belongs to 170 Vietnamese feed millers.

"This indicates that the Vietnamese feed millers are relatively weaker than their foreign counterparts," he said. Vang said the foreign feed millers are stronger because of their competitive advantage in terms of funding and technology. So, to be able to compete with them, he said, Vietnamese feed millers need to keep up with advance technology and adopt modern management to improve their productivity.
