Devenish Nutrition opens food-grade premix facility in Widnes, England
Belfast-headquartered agri-technology company, Devenish Nutrition, has increased its presence in Great Britainwith a new food-grade premix manufacturing facility in Widnes, near Liverpool.
The Widnes site, which is BRC standard accredited, will produce premix for the key species of poultry, pig, ruminant and companion animals. It is designed to reduce the risk of cross-contamination. The state-of-the-art facility has multiple production lines which enable medicated and non-medicated production to be kept apart and there are separate storage areas for raw materials and finished goods. An onsite laboratory will be modified to allow for testing on both raw materials and finished goods.
Currently, test batches for quality control validation purposes are being produced at the plant and the plant will move into full operation over the next few weeks. Volume production will commence in Q1 of 2014. Once the site is fully operational, it will allow the company to double its current production capacity for premix.

The facility''s location, close to the M62, M56, M6, and M5 also allows Devenish Nutrition to utilise the excellent infrastructure to ensure the quick distribution of product to its customers throughout GB.
The addition of this facility comes only six months after the acquisition of Hi Peak Feeds Ltd, the leading multi species organic feed manufacturer based near Sheffield. This site has since seen over £400,000 (US$645,000) of investment already with further development plans for 2014. Devenish Nutrition''s mill in Belfast, which currently produces premix, creep and speciality products, is currently in the middle of a £3 million (US$4.8 million) investment programme.
Devenish Nutrition now has six manufacturing and research facilities throughout Great Britain and Ireland and two sites in North America, one in Minnesota and the other in Iowa. Its recently-formed international division is actively selling products to over 25 countries across three continents from itsheadquarters in Belfast.
