Slow improvement in demand weighs on China lysine prices

Lysine prices in China moved higher during the week ending August 20.

Soaring hog prices boost the confidence of feed millers, who increased depleting inventories of lysine while demand for feed improved. Lysine producers lifted prices amid dwindling stocks, and stepped production in view of robust demand with animal releases poised to stay high during August and September.

Price quotes of 98.5-percent lysine remained in the range of RMB8.50-9.20/kg.

RMB1=US$0.1627 (Aug 20)
