Vice Minister Yu Kangzhen attended and addressed the opening ceremony of the China-WFP South-South Cooperation Guided Tour In Support of Rural Transformation in Beijing on June 1, 2016. The World Food Programme (WFP) Executive Director Ertharin Cousin, China's permanent representative at the United Nations' Food and Agriculture Organization Niu Dun, as well as representatives of Kenya, Zimbabwe and Mozambique attended the opening ceremony.
Yu pointed out that since the implementation of the reform and opening-up policy, China has made significant achievements in agricultural and rural development. China has succeeded in feeding one fifth of the world population with 10 percent of cultivated land in the world, demonstrating its great responsibility for the people and making important contributions to global food security. China is ready to share its experience and practice with developing countries so as to boost common development.
