Vice Minister Qu Dongyu met with Phouang Parisak Pravongviengkham, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forestry of Laos, in Xi'an on June 2, 2016.
Qu noted that over recent years, the cooperation between the two ministries have made great achievements in transboundary animal disease prevention and control, pilot and demonstration programs on high-quality and high-yield crops, agricultural capacity building, and agricultural investment and trade, among others. Qu put forward a proposal to convene the 2nd meeting of the China-Laos Joint Commission on Agriculture as soon as possible, to discuss collaboration in fully implementing joint prevention and control of major animal diseases, grain production and market circulation, biomass energy, and agricultural technical and management personnel training, to help Laos upgrade its agricultural development.
Phouang Parisak Pravongviengkham noted that Laos's participation in the G20 Agricultural Ministers Meeting as one of the guest countries showed the friendly cooperation between the two countries and China's support to the bilateral agricultural ties. He extended congratulations to China for successfully holding the meeting, saying that he was looking forward to receiving more assistance from China and further enhancing bilateral cooperation.
