Minister Han Changfu met with Hiroshi Moriyama, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan, in Xi'an on June 2, 2016.
Minister Han noted that over recent years the two countries have maintained cooperation in agriculture, and the China-Japan Agriculture Ministers Meeting, Vice-Minister Level Dialogue on Agriculture, China-Japan Working Group Meeting on Agricultural Science and Technology have been convened in succession. China hopes that the two ministries continue to improve cooperation mechanism, support research institutes to build joint labs, promote mutual investment in agriculture, and expand agricultural trade.
Hiroshi Moriyama extended congratulations to China for successfully holding the G20 Agriculture Ministers Meeting and paid tribute to the great efforts of China. He agreed with Minister Han on enhancing China-Japan agricultural cooperation, saying that he was looking forward to improving cooperation mechanism to boost cooperation and bring benefits to the people of the two countries.
After the meeting, the two sides signed the Terms of Reference of the China-Japan Working Group Meeting on Agricultural Cooperation.
