Minister Han Changfu meets Brazilian counterpart Blairo Maggi

Minister Han Changfu met with Mr. Blairo Maggi, Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply (MAPA) of the Federative Republic of Brazil, in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, on June 2, 2016. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening the bilateral agricultural cooperation. Mr. Blairo Maggi was visiting China for the G20 Agriculture Ministers Meeting.

 

Minister Han Changfu welcomed the participation of the Brazilian delegation in the G20 Agriculture Ministers Meeting and expressed his appreciation for Brazil's support to the Meeting. He stated that China and Brazil are friendly partners enjoying complementaries, sound foundation and enormous potentials in agricultural cooperation. 

 

To further deepen the bilateral agricultural cooperation, Minister Han Changfu put forward a three-point proposal as below: (1) continue giving full play to the role of the China-Brazil Joint Committee on Agriculture and create more opportunities for deeper and mutually-beneficial cooperation; (2) discuss cooperation in breeding R&D and human resource development to beef up agricultural S&T R&D and innovation; (3) promote agricultural trade, improve product mix and facilitate business-business cooperation. 

 

Blairo Maggi agreed with Minister Han on his proposals and expressed his willingness to deepen the bilateral cooperation during his tenure. He welcomes Chinese enterprises to invest in logistics and infrastructure in Brazil to expand bilateral agricultural trade in a sustained way.
