Vice Minister Chen Xiaohua met with Mr. Trevor Nicholls, CEO of Centre for Agriculture and Biosciences International (CABI), in Delemont of Switzerland on July 1, 2016. The two sides exchanged views on enhancing cooperation.

Vice Minister Chen noted that over the past 20 years China and CABI have developed strategic and fruitful cooperation in agriculture and many other areas. To further promote bilateral agricultural cooperation, he put forward a three-point proposal: first, take the MOA-CABI Joint Laboratory for Bio-safety as a platform and improve the working mechanism; second, intensify bilateral agricultural information cooperation and seek breakthroughs in extending information technology and the "Internet Plus' program to rural households; third, discuss the possibility of tripartite cooperation with other developing countries on food security issues.

After the meeting, the two sides signed the Letter of Intent between the Ministry of Agriculture of the People's Republic of China and the Centre for Agriculture and Bioscience International to Establish a European Laboratory in Switzerland by the MOA-CABI Joint Laboratory for Bio-safety.
