China’s power
consumption
may increase 3% from a year ago to 5.7 trillion KWh in 2015, said the the National Energy Administration (NEA) on July 27.During the first half of the year, China consumed a total 2,662.4 TWh of
electricity
, up 1.3% from the same period last year, the NEA said.China produced a total 2,709.1 TWh of electricity during the same period, up 0.6% year on year.Of this, power generated by non-fossil fuels rose 16.0% on year, accounting for 22.9% of the total output, compared with a 22.6% share a year ago.China’s total energy consumption may grow 0.7% from the year prior in the first half of the year, said Liu Qi, deputy director-general of the NEA, adding that the energy demand may increase a bit in the second half of the year from the first half.Liu said China’s energy consumption may increase at a moderate pace this year amid a slowing Chinese economy, thanks to the government’s stimulus measures.
