16th China-Netherlands Agricultural High-Level Working Group Meeting opens in the Hague

MOA Chief Economist ( vice minister level)Yang Shaopin and Directorate-General Agro Hans Hoogeveen of the Ministry of Economic Affairs of the Netherlands co-chaired the 16th China-Netherlands Agricultural High-level Working Group Meeting in the Hague on September 11, 2013. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening pragmatic cooperation in agriculture.

 

Yang noted that China and the Netherlands are highly complementary in agriculture, and thus enjoy great potentials for further cooperation. "Adhering to the principle of mutual benefits and the win-win strategy, we are looking forward to beefing up communication and collaboration with the Netherlands in such sectors as animal husbandry, agri-product quality & safety, veterinary service, fishery, dairy industry, potato industry, farmers'' vocational training, phytosanitary affairs, new plant variety protection, and seed production", Yang said.

 

 

As response, Directorate-General Agro Hans Hoogeveen stressed that the Dutch side is keen to build on the comprehensive partnership with China in agriculture. "We''d like to work together and lay out priority areas of cooperation in our common interests, and promote bilateral ties to a new height", he emphasized.

 

 

After the Meeting, the two sides signed the Meeting Minutes and the Framework Agreement between the Ministry of Agriculture of China and the Ministry of Economic Affairs of the Netherlands on Potato Industry Development. According to the schedule of the mission, the Chinese delegation also attended the Expo of Potato Europe 2013 hosted by the Netherlands, and visited a number of well-known dairy manufacturers based in this country.
