2014 International Symposium on Brand Agriculture Development

The 2014 International Symposium on Brand Agriculture Development was held in Beijing on September 4, 2014. Mr. Chen Xiaohua, Vice Minister of MOA, and Mr. Wang Ren, Assistant Director-General of Food and Agriculture Organization FAO of the United Nations, attended and addressed the Symposium.

Ms. Zhang Yuxiang, President of Chinese agri-produce Marketing Association chaired the opening ceremony, and Mr. Zhu Baocheng, President of China Good Agri-products Development and Service Association (CGAPA) delivered a keynote speech.

 

The Brand Agriculture Development Symposium is an annual event hosted by CGAPA and 7 other agriculture-related associations since 2012.

 

In Vice Minister Chen's speech, he noted that cultivation of agriculture brands is an important way to improve agri-product quality and competitiveness, raise farmers' income, increase added value of agricultural industry, facilitate agricultural structure readjustment, and accelerate the development of modern agriculture.

 

In CGAPA President Zhu's speech, titled as "Brand Development, a Strategy for Agriculture Product Quality and Safety Improvement', he pointed out that China would like to provide favorable conditions for both domestic and overseas agricultural enterprises in brand building and promotion. The Symposium serves as a platform for participants to exchange views on the trend of brand agriculture development, learn advanced technologies and concepts from each other, and explore ways to push forward the process of agricultural modernization. And it will continue to play a significant role in facilitating international cooperation in this regard. 

 

In the discussion section of the Symposium, delegates shared views on wide-ranged issues such as the inner motive of brand agriculture, government's role in agricultural development,soft power of brands, e-business of agriculture products and its integrity mechanism, and so on.

 

Representatives from MOA, local governments, foreign embassies, relevant countries and international organizations, as well as a number of agricultural scholars and entrepreneurs attended the Symposium.
