The Ninth Meeting of China-Germany Joint Commission on Agriculture was held in Nanjing, China on Sept. 11, 2014. The Chinese delegation headed by Vice Minister Niu Dun and the German delegation headed by Mr. Peter Bleser, Parliamentary State Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) of Germany, attended the Meeting.

At the Meeting, the two sides had in-depth exchange and reached consensus on the establishment and development of China-Germany Agricultural Center (CGAC) and other issues concerning bilateral agricultural cooperation.

Vice Minister Niu noted that the development of CGAC is of great significance to further agricultural cooperation between China and Germany. He proposed that a joint leading group and a project steering committee should be established as soon as possible to ensure that project activities could move forward in an orderly manner. Bleser agreed with Niu on his proposal, saying he's glad to be the group leader of the German side.

Furthermore, the two sides agreed on official establishment and operation of CGAC early next year. In addition, they exchanged views on progress in and future workplans for Modern Agriculture Demonstration Farm, Animal Husbandry Technological Innovation Center, Modern Biogas Demonstration Project and Young Manager Training under the framework of CGAC.

Accompanied by Vice Minister Niu, Bleser had a field trip after the Meeting to gain an insight into the agricultural developments in Jiangsu Province.
