To ensure safe and stable gas supply for the Olympic Games, CNPC has employed its five gas provinces ─ Changqing, Tarim, Huabei, Dagang and Liaohe, together with the two Shaan-Jing gas pipelines and Dagang underground gas storages, to deliver natural gas to the six host cities of Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Shenyang, Qingdao and Qinhuangdao.
Besides gas supply to the Olympic Cauldron, all the natural gas used for restaurants in the Olympic village, hundreds of hotels and restaurants who signed contracts with the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG), and other public facilities for the reception of Olympic visitors are provided by CNPC.
In the year 2008, CNPC's gas supply to Beijing will reach a historical high at 6.8 billion cubic meters in order to meet the special environmental requirements of the Olympic Games.
