AnHui Annada Titanium Industry Co., Ltd (002136.SZ) and CNNC HUAYUAN Titanium Dioxide Co., Ltd (002145.SZ) are planning to raise titanium dioxide prices by 300 yuan/mt. The two companies' decisions are said to be made in accordance with domestic titanium dioxide giant LOMON's price increase by 2% this April.
LOMON, long regarded as the titanium dioxide price reference in China, has already triggered dozens of times of price increases among the leading manufacturers.
Growing export volume that greatly helps with de-stocking is the most possible impetus for this round of price increases. According to latest statistics from General Administration of Customs, China's export of TiO2 is about 52,526 metric tons, up 70.81% compared with the same period of last year, and up 18.84% compared with March 2014.
Another possible reason is said to be the ever-rising expenses of environmental protection and clean production. Increasing numbers of substandard producers will have to shut down in the following years, indicating high probability of titanium dioxide rebounds within China.
