It's reported that the US scrap export prices to Taiwan have surged significantly since this January.
Last week, the quotes of the US container HMS 80:20 (1&2) to Taiwan jumped to US$402/ton C&F, increasing by US$10/ton from a month ago.
As a result, the Taiwanese steel mills have planned to purchase scraps from Japan due to the depreciation of the Japanese Yen. However, the Japanese scrap suppliers have postponed the export quotes.
Since Korean steel mills' purchasing prices of the Japanese H2 scraps have reached ¥32,000/ton FOB, it's predicted that Japan's H2 scrap export prices may rose to ¥35,000/ton FOB (US$435~US$440/ton C&F) in the short term.
