According to data released by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), the US steel mills shipped 8,343,075 net tons in August, up by 0.8% from a month ago but down by 0.4% year on year.
In the first eight months of this year, the US steel mills' shipments totaled 64,019,060 net tons, falling by 3.6% in comparison of 66,404,752 net tons in the same period of 2012.
