Most of the market participants expected that the Taiwanese local welding pipe makers may hike new price by more than NT$500/ton for next January in response to Chung Hung Steel's price rise.

It's known that Chung Hung Steel has announced to raise its prices for hot rolled coils (HRC) by NT$450/ton and to increase its prices for cold rolled coils and galvanized steel by NT$500/ton for next January.

In fact, most of Taiwanese domestic pipe makers have already faced fierce price competition in November and December, making the actual selling price lower than the input costs.

Affected by these factors, it's expected that the Taiwanese steel pipe producers would raise the prices by more than NT$500/ton for next January but they predicted that market demand in next January might be little bit lower than this December.
