East China's Anhui province witnessed a sharp fall in profits of its energy industry in the first quarter, the Bureau of Statistics of Anhui Province announced yesterday.Profits fell over 60% in the province's energy and new energy industries in the first three months, the bureau said, adding that Huaibei Mining Group and Huainan Mining Group posted a loss of more than 1 billion yuan. Maanshan Iron & Steel Group booked a net loss of 390 million yuan in the first quarter and Tongling Nonferrous Metals Group reported a 37% drop in its profits.
