BN Americas reported that Mexico's economy ministry has approved an AD investigation into imports of galvanized steel mesh from China.
The decision follows a petition by Mexican steelmaker Deacero, which claims the product was imported illegally and the imports could damage Mexico's steel industry.
The petition was accepted by the ministry, which plans to carry out an investigation into imports from 20 Chinese companies between October 2011 and September last year.
However, the ministry will also consider imposing duties on future imports of galvanized steel mesh from China.
Recently, Mexican authorities imposed antidumping duties on imports of certain types of cold-rolled steel from Korea as part of an investigation into alleged unfair trade practices, following a complaint by steelmaker Ternium Mxico.
