According to statistics released by the Stainless Steel Council of the China Special Steel Enterprise Association on October 27th 2011, China's stainless steel output totaled 9.37 million tonnes in the first 9 months of 2011, surged by 12.8% YoY.
In the given period of time, China imported 670,000 tonnes of stainless steel, decreased by 19.2% YoY. However, the country's exports of stainless steel soared by 61.7% YoY to 1.75 million tonnes. In addition, the apparent stainless steel consumption in China totaled 7.17 million tonnes in January to September 2011 period, up by 1.7% YoY.
