According to statistics released by the Italian steelmakers' federation Federacciai, Italy's steel exports to the EU and non EU-countries totaled 12.55 million tons in the first eight months of this year, rising by 9.3% year on year.
Among them, the steel exports to the EU countries totaled 8.5 million tons, rising by 2.6% and that to non-EU countries amounted to 4.02 million tons, jumping by 26.9%, both compared to that in the same period of a year ago.
However, the country' steel imports declined by 24.3% to 9.55 million tons in the given period of time.
