In July, South Africa's producer price index (PPI) for basic iron and steel industry increased by 1% from June and rose by 11.8% year on year, according to data of Statistics South Africa.
Meanwhile, the PPI for the country's exported iron and steel was up by 1.2% from a month ago and increased by 2.7% year on year.
At the same time, the PPI for imported basic iron and steel remained stable in July, on basis of year-on year and month-on-month.
