Description:
Acephate is a slow-acting insecticide, mainly applied to control pests with chewing mouthparts and piercing-sucking developed by Chevron Co., Ltd. in 1971. In 2007, the sales of Acephate reached USD195 million in the world, as the second large organophosphorus insecticides. However, acephate's performance in China had not been satisfying until the methamidophos was banned in 2008.
In last 3 years, acephate industry has been witnessing huge change in China. Compared with that in 2006, the capacity in 2011 has increased more than 90%. In 2009-2011, acephate capacity and output increased continuously. China Crop Protection Industry Association (CCPIA) has set up a cooperative group with eight key acephate producers in order to make acephate become a variety with sustainable development.
Historical market analysis – A full market study provides comprehensive understanding to the acephate situation in the past three years. The intelligence data is presented by various indexes, such as supply (output, capacity, producers, location distribution), demand (demand volume, demand structure by crops/targets), price, technology, etc. Future market analysis - Market trend in the coming five years.

Executive summary:
As the derivative of methamidophos, acephate is gradually recognized after methamidophos was banned for use and production. It is one of the products supported by the special fund for treasury bond in the National Eleventh Five-Year Plan from 2006 to 2010 and the acephate capacity experiences a fast growth. Compared with that in 2006, the capacity in 2011 has increased more than XX%.
Raw material
DMPAT is the main material of methamidophos. Since methamidophos has been banned by more and more countries, some of the producers stop the production. However some big giants of DMPAT producers have further expanded its capacities such as Hubei Sanonda Co., Ltd. (Hubei Sanonda) who wants to consolidate the its position in DMPAT production.
Technology
Acephate is synthesized from isomerization firstly and acylation secondly, taking O, O-Dimethyl phosphoramidothioate as raw material. Manufactures usually take acetic anhydride as acidylating agents.
Production
China is one of the key acephate manufacturers in the world. As of Aug. 2011, its acephate technical capacity has reached XX., basically able to satisfy the total demand in the world. The output of acephate technical is XX. tonnes in 2010 with the operating rate of XX.%, compared with XX.in the previous year.
Manufactures
In 2011, there are around 11 active key acephate technical manufacturers in China, mainly concentrating in Hubei, Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces, with their output accounting for around XX. of the total acephate technical output in 2010.
Major acephate technical manufacturers include Hubei Sanonda Co., Ltd. (XX.), Jiahua Group Co., Ltd. XX.), Jiangsu Lanfeng Biochemical Co., Ltd. (XX.), etc.
Price
In 2008, the price of acephate soared because the tight domestic supply situation of DMPAT which is the key material, caused by the hot export. However, influenced by the economic crisis in 2009, the price of DMPAT dropped quickly which led to the price decline of acephate.
Demand
According to CCM's survey, the consumption of China's acephate formulations is not stable caused by the extreme weather, threat from oversea products and the lack of retailer's promotion enthusiasm. The consumption of acephate formulation has decreased to XX tonnes in 2010, down XX.% compared with that of 2008.
