In the last several years, the tendency of sodium borohydride has been stable. The first thing needs to be noticed is that a group of producers were experiencing close down, due to the weak growth rate of downstream demand. In 2010, there were 13 active producers producing sodium borohyride. However, in 2014, there were only 6 left. Shanghai Shenyu Pharmaceutical & Chemical Co., Ltd., which used to be an influential producer, stopped producing sodium borohydride in 2014. On the contrary, the top two producers, Shandong Guobang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. and Zhangjiagang Jinyuan Biochemical Co., Ltd., the expansion of sodium borohydride gave them a larger market share among all the producers. It means that some producers still hold a positive expectation towards sodium borohydride. Indeed, along with the research and development of hydrogen fuel cells, one of the most promising applications of sodium borohydride, the future of its demand may witness a great leap.
However, currently, the demand of sodium borohydride is affected by the performance of antibiotics, the consumption volume of which is surpassing other applications of sodium borohydride by two to three times. Before 2011, the consumption of antibiotics in China lacked supervision, leading to the abuse. But since the Administrative Measures for the Clinical Use of Antibacterial Drugs issued by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of China and regulations on Health insurance, the consumption of antibiotics have been retrained and supervised much more strongly than before, which bring to the apparently declined in demand, as well as the consumption of sodium borohydride. Nevertheless, relying on the big population and undeveloped healthcare level, the future of antibiotics also enjoys a uptrend. Accordingly, the demand of sodium borohydride will be supported by the rigid and stable demand.

Sodium borohydride is used widely as reducing agent, especially in pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals industry. Even though in the last few years, situation of sodium borohydride in both supply and demand is experiencing a stable trend. There are still factors changing, like the amount of producers, which is leading to the change of centralization of the supply end.

In this report, the situation of supply and demand situation of sodium borohydride will be introduced elaborately and analyzed by a large amount of data. From the aspect of production, the capacity and output during 2010-2014 will be presented, as well as the several technologies of production, the cost analysis among the four major producers and so on.
