Summary: The fiber industry's import and export trade is facing pressure in 2025. In 2024, the total import and tranalysis.com/Analysis/Index#item1?KeyWordID=1ea6f8b39ff44ad4becec20c63502df5&PublisherID=b3fac7dd-9156-424c-9843-193631ebb67b' target='_blank'>export volume was US$322.366 billion, and the surplus was US$279.839 billion, both of which increased slightly; but at the beginning of 2025, the trade scale and surplus declined, imports shrank, and exports declined but remained resilient. The technological trend is towards green transformation, intelligent production and new material research and development, such as Shenghong New Materials' recycled fiber technology and Jiangsu Jianlu Wool Spinning's intelligent upgrade, which promotes the sustainable development of the industry.

  1. Import and export trade data analysis

1. Overall import and export situation

In 2024, the total import and export volume of China's textile industry reached US$322.366 billion, a slight increase of 2.22% year-on-year, and a trade surplus of US$279.839 billion, a year-on-year increase of 2.91%. However, from January to February 2025, the trade scale of the textile industry has reached US$44.299 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 8.6%; the trade surplus is US$41.469 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 0.6%. This shows that the textile industry trade faces certain pressure at the beginning of 2025.

2. Import situation

In January-February 2025, China's textile industry imported US$1.415 billion, down 58.1% year-on-year, continuing the trend of shrinking imports. The price fluctuations of imported products are small, but the overall trend is downward. In 2024, the price of imported products fell by 2.47% compared with the same period last year.

3. Export situation

In January-February 2025, the export value of China's textile industry was US$42.884 billion, down 4.9% year-on-year. Despite this, in 2024, China's total foreign trade exports of textiles and clothing reached US$301.102 billion, breaking the US$300 billion mark again, an increase of 2.5% year-on-year, showing that the textile industry's foreign trade has maintained a certain resilience in a complex environment.

2. Technology trends
1. Green and sustainable development

With the global emphasis on environmental protection, the fiber industry is also accelerating its green transformation. For example, Shenghong New Materials (Suqian) Industrial Park transforms waste plastic bottles into recycled fibers through technological innovation, with an annual production capacity of 500,000 tons, equivalent to consuming 30 billion waste plastic bottles each year. This "waste-to-treasure" technology not only reduces resource waste, but also reduces production costs and improves the market competitiveness of products.

2. Intelligent production

Intelligent production lines and information system construction are becoming the mainstream trend in the fiber industry. Jiangsu Jianlu Wool Spinning Co., Ltd. has greatly improved its production efficiency by introducing advanced rapier looms and automatic warp drawing machines. In addition, the company has also built a digital system covering the entire industrial chain, realizing the intelligent upgrade of production, operation and service ends. This intelligent transformation not only improves production efficiency, but also reduces energy consumption and promotes the sustainable development of the industry.

3. New material research and development
The fiber industry has also made significant progress in the research and development of new materials. For example, the "5D6F" recycled fiber product developed by Shenghong New Materials (Suqian) Industrial Park weighs only a few grams for 10,000 meters of fiber. This high-performance, lightweight new material has broad application prospects in many fields such as clothing, home textiles, aviation, and construction, providing new impetus for the development of the fiber industry.
