Yu Kangzhen, Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China, met with Luis Planas, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food of Spain, and co-chaired the first meeting of the China-Spain Working Group on Agricultural Cooperation with Fernando Miranda Sotillos, Vice Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food of Spain, in Spain on October 22. They exchanged views on enhancing bilateral cooperation in agriculture, confirmed priorities for further cooperation and signed the minutes of meeting.
Yu said that China and Spain was highly complementary in agriculture. There was plenty room for cooperation in the fields of agricultural science and technology, agricultural trade and animal health through implementing the consensus reached by national leaders, intensifying market access cooperation and proactively promoting free trade in agricultural products, strengthening exchanges among agricultural research institutions and personnel in order to raise the level of common development and common sharing, deepening cooperation in animal husbandry and veterinary so as to improve animal health and push forward the agricultural cooperation to a new level.
Luis and Fernando highly appreciated China's pragmatic efforts to improving bilateral cooperation in agriculture, saying that Spain was willing to work with China to continuously optimize priorities of cooperation and promote sustained bilateral cooperation in agricultural sectors. The two sides agreed that the next meeting of the China-Spain Working Group on Agricultural Cooperation would be held in China.
