First Meeting of the China-Malaysia Agricultural Cooperation Joint Working Group Held in Beijing

The first meeting of the China-Malaysia Agricultural Cooperation Joint Working Group was held in Beijing recently. Vice Minister Qu Dongyu and Mohd Sallehhuddin Hassan, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-Industry of Malaysia, co-chaired the meeting.

 

The two sides discussed and established the China-Malaysia agricultural cooperation framework, and reached consensus on promoting agricultural investment, enhancing agricultural trade cooperation, promoting exchanges and cooperation in agricultural science and technology as well as carrying out cooperation in such fields as post-production processing of agricultural products, animal husbandry, veterinary medicine, fishing, aquaculture, pesticide management certification and multilateral and regional food and agriculture governance. The two sides agreed to establish four technical working groups on planting, animal husbandry, science and technology and fisheries under the framework of the joint working group. The two sides signed the minutes of the meeting after the meeting and decided to hold the second meeting of the China-Malaysia Agricultural Cooperation Joint Working Group in Malaysia in July 2020.

 

Representatives from relevant departments of international cooperation, planting, science and technology, fisheries and animal husbandry of the two countries attended the meeting. The Malaysian delegation also conducted a field visit to the rural leisure agriculture in Beijing.
