
Vice Minister Zhang Taolin met with Mr. Loane Naivalurua, Ambassador of the Republic of Fiji to China, in Beijing on the afternoon of 28 March 2017.
Mr. Zhang recalled his visit to Fiji last year and the Third Meeting of China-Fiji Joint Committee on Agriculture convened then. During the meeting, the two sides held in-depth discussions and reached broad consensus on bilateral agricultural cooperation. He was delighted to witness the positive progress in implementing related agreements. He said that the Chinese side attaches great importance to bilateral agricultural cooperation and is willing to move it forward.
Mr. Naivalurua noted that Fiji highly values the Belt and Road Initiative put forward by President Xi, and the Prime Minister of Fiji will attend the International Cooperation Summit Forum on the Belt and Road Initiative in Beijing this May at the invitation of the Chinese side. Fiji hoped that China could provide more agricultural assistance to help improve Fijian food security.
The two sides exchanged views on China-Fiji Juncao Technology Cooperation Project Phase II, the Rice Development Project Phase II and fisheries cooperation.
