
Minister Han Changfu met with Ms. Virginija Baltraitien?, Minister of Agriculture of Lithuania, in Kunming, Yunnan on Nov. 5, 2016. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening agricultural cooperation between China and Lithuania.
Minister Han extended his welcome and gratitude to Ms. Baltraitien? for her visit to China and her participation in the Meeting of China-CEEC Ministers of Agriculture and International Forum on Agro-Trade and Economic Cooperation held in Kunming. Minister Han noted that China and Lithuania are highly complementary with great potential for cooperation in agriculture. The two countries could learn from each other's successful experience in agricultural development.
At the meeting, Minister Han put forward the following suggestions for further agricultural cooperation. Firstly, taking full advantage of the "16+1' (China-CEEC) mechanism to boost multilateral and bilateral agricultural cooperation. Secondly, strengthening the China-Lithuania cooperation in agricultural S&T, ecological agriculture and fisheries. Thirdly, making concerted efforts to enable cooperation in agricultural trade and investment.
Ms. Baltraitien? agreed on Minister Han's suggestions, noting that it was a landmark meeting between the two agricultural ministers. Lithuania highly values the agricultural cooperation under the "16+1' (China-CEEC) mechanism and appreciates China's efforts and contribution in this regard. Lithuania hopes to bid for the 2018 China-CEEC agricultural ministers meeting and the agro-trade forum to mark its centennial of independence.
