The 16th AMAF+3 meeting brought together ministers on agriculture and forestry from 10 ASEAN countries, China, Japan and Korea, as well as Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN.
At the meeting, Vice Minister Qu reviewed the fruitful results in agricultural cooperation under the 10+3 mechanism, and noted that China is ready to deepen agricultural cooperation with ASEAN countries and provide possible support within its capacity.
To this end, Vice Minister Qu put forward a three-point proposal:
1. Strengthen exchanges and communication on agriculture and food security policies. A new five-year strategic plan for cooperation should be developed based on the good practices from the past experience.
2. Intensify joint efforts in major transboundary animal and plant disease prevention and control.
3. Promote the sustained and rapid growth of agricultural trade.
