Minister Han Changfu met Mr. Mahmoud Hojjati, Minister of Jihad-e-Agriculture of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in Tehran on Sept. 25, 2016. The two sides exchanged views on deepening China-Iran agricultural cooperation.
The two ministers reviewed and spoke highly of the bilateral agricultural cooperation in recent years, agreeing on the rapid progress made in improving cooperation mechanisms, increasing S&T and personnel exchanges, ensuring food security and promoting cooperation in fisheries and investment. The two sides agreed on the signing of an agreement on agricultural cooperation under the framework of the "Belt and Road Initiative" between the two ministries at an earlier date, and agreed on further cooperation in agricultural investment and trade and greater participation of Chinese enterprises in Iran's agricultural development and trade growth that benefits the two peoples under the framework of this Agreement.
After the meeting, the two ministers signed an agreement on cooperation in animal health and quarantine between the two governments and an MOU on strengthening fishery cooperation between the two ministries.
During his stay in Iran, Minister Han also attended a matchmaking event for fishery enterprises from China and Iran, held meeting with governor of Province d'Ispahan, and visited some organizations and local farmers to learn about agricultural and fishery development in Iran.
